Photographer & Author
Dr. Joe Bunni is a Paris-based dental surgeon, scuba diver and winner of the prestigious BBC Veolia prize for ‘Wildlife photographer of the year 2011. Joe is the author of “± 5 m : Man’s future, the sea” which showcases the spectacular colours of the animal and plant world found within ± 5 metres of the sea level–above and below. Joe founded SOS Océans, an organization designed to create ocean awareness for all ages.
His book, “± 5 m : Man’s future, the sea,” contains close to 700 exceptional photographs—many were captured in the snorkel zone under extreme conditions—of species that are under threat. Raising awareness of ecological issues facing the ocean, ± 5 m contains a preface by Prince Albert of Monaco and contributions from 14 authors around the world. These poetic, literary and environmentally committed contributions structure the book—which was translated in 14 languages—and a child’s drawing graces each chapter. The book was published under the patronage of UNESCO with support from the French Ministry of the Environment, Sustainable Development, Transportation and Housing.
