Jo-Ann Wilkins

Diving & Photography Instructor

Citizenship: Canadian
Montreal, Quebec

Jo-Ann Wilkins is a Canadian underwater photographer, writer and dive instructor based in Montreal. Passionate about cold water diving, she photographs and writes about the historical shipwrecks of the Canadian Great Lakes and St-Lawrence River. She has organized and led numerous diving expeditions to Alaska and British Columbia, and operated a commercial dive charter operation on the St-Lawrence River for over a decade.

The challenges involved in cold water underwater photography such as limited visibility, cumbersome and heavy gear, difficult lighting strategies and reduced communication are what motivate her.

Her work has been featured in Canadian and American publications such as Scuba Diving Magazine, Diver Magazine and has been recognized in international photography competitions. She is one of the artists featured in the innovative and unique Canadian underwater exposition Aquart. Jo-Ann is the owner of AquaPixels, a company dedicated to underwater portraiture of athletes and of the general public. A mother of two boys, she holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from McGill University and a M.Sc. In Psychology from Université de Montréal.
